A Minor Adjustment At Your Site That Can Give You More Adsense Earnings

The following rather slight adjustment at my Adsense blog increased my Adsense earnings dramatically and my belief is that it can do the same for you.

The fact that blogs are updated very frequently usually means that most blogs avoid having a home page. That’s a big mistake, as I discovered the other day.

There are many advantages of having a home page. To start with, it becomes much easier for somebody visiting your blog for the first time to find his or her way around. This means that chances are higher they will visit more pages and will therefore spend a longer time at your blog. We all know that the longer visitors linger at your site the better it is because chances are higher that they will end up buying something or clicking on one of your Adsense ads.

I discovered this truth rather practically by doing a minor adjustment at one of my blogs and including a simple home page where I listed the contents. The immediate effect is that the page views on that particular blog rose up dramatically. It was therefore hardly surprising when the number of Adsense clicks also went up.

Your blog home page should highlight the really interesting stuff in your blog and should have a direct link to it. For instance, the headlines should be live links linking directly back to the relevant page.

Always bear in mind that most first time visitors will only look around for a few seconds at your site. If they happen to land on an article that they don’t have any interest in, then you could lose that visitor. By having a home page, you make it easier for them to see much more of what your blog has to offer and chances are that they will visit a page or two more.

It will also help if you have a brief teaser summary next to your page headlines displayed on your home page as a further enticement for people to visit your pages, thus dramatically increasing the number of Adsense clicks you will end up with.
